Well, since the car isn't running rough (I'm assuming), it probably isn't a HUGE problem. Black smudge sounds an awful lot like fuel to me. Again, pull the plugs and check them out. That will give you the best indication. Fuel will be wet and smelly, or flaky carbon deposits. Oil will be thicker and won't smell like fuel (as bad). Honestly, try some really good quality injector cleaner for two tankfulls or so. Ad them when the tank is low and drive around till you HAVE to fill up. This just may do the trick. Other wise, you'll have to pull the electrical connections to each injector and test the impedence of each with an Ohm meter. It's a full afternoon's work for the average tinkerer, but not terribly difficult. If you still can't figure it out, it may be time for a CONSULT to get more in-depth. BTW, have you run an ECU diagnostic? Couldn't hurt and only takes a minute.
